Compare Mentions over time

Introduction

Consumer intelligence heavily relies on the insights provided by mentions within consumr.ai. To briefly overview the tool, consumr.ai is a robust solution that captures the consumer experience from various points of interaction, as seen from a brand's viewpoint. It begins with understanding consumer mindsets and their translation into intentions. Over time, if these intentions consistently influence online consumer activities, they form patterns of behavior which the platform records. The pivotal element is the mentions report, detailing what consumers and the market voice about the brand. These mention reports round out the loop of consumer intelligence, yielding feedback from actions taken by vast numbers of users every minute. This feedback is transformed into actionable and relevant data snippets for strategy development and action planning.

This article will discuss a novel yet vital addition to the mentions report: the dimension of 'time.' The Mentions - Trends feature lets you schedule insights at set intervals, offering a dynamic perspective on how consumer opinions, interactions, and engagement with a brand evolve over time.

To set up a mentions report, begin by generating standalone mentions report through the Omnibox. Alternatively, if you have an existing mentions insight you wish to schedule, find it on the asset table display as indicated in the screenshot.

Begin by verifying that you're in the correct organization and portfolio. Click the view history button below the Omnibox, on the right side. When the asset table displays, apply search filters to find entries under the intelligence column. Click to open an entry; it will be displayed in a pop-up modal over the Omnibox.

Within the report, you'll notice a purple button labelled "Schedule Report" in the upper right-hand corner.

A panel on the right will appear to assist you with the controls for scheduling a mentions trend insight. The name of the report you're setting up is clearly displayed in the screenshot provided.

Event frequency

Directly beneath the report title, there's a drop-down menu labelled event frequency. You can use it to schedule how often the report should regenerate, with options from as frequently as weekly to as seldom as quarterly.

Date Range

The date range sets the beginning and conclusion of the event sequence, meaning the insight schedule kicks off on the start date and recurs weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly based on your chosen frequency. The schedule concludes with a final occurrence on the end date and ceases thereafter. After setting the frequency and date range, click the 'schedule report' button to finalize the schedule.

Creating mentions report automatically includes data from the past 90 days. When scheduled weekly, the system updates this data every seven days on a rolling basis. This method is also used for biweekly, monthly, and quarterly schedules.

If you had previously scheduled a report and now wish to view it, you must find the scheduled report. To do this, simply click on the 'view history' button located under the Omnibox to access the asset table.

Utilize the search bar located in the intelligence column to look for specific mentions. The system will organize a list of all mention reports generated within the selected date range at the top of the table.

In the intelligence column, certain reports will have small graph symbols next to them while others will not. These icons serve as indicators of insights data that has been prearranged. By selecting these insights, you will gain access to a trend report of the mentions.

Diving into the insight page, the first row on the top lists down a couple of controls and a series of information. The arrow pointing to the left can be clicked on if you want to exit the report and go back to the Omnibox. Right next to it is the name of the report that has been auto generated but can be edited by clicking on the pencil icon to the left the name.

Next you will see the report ID which is uniquely assigned for every report. To the left of the ID is the copy icon that you can click to copy the report ID in case you want to paste it somewhere. Further right you will see the name of the organisation and the portfolio name follows it.

Extreme right in the row is a properties button, that you can use if you want to edit the schedule of the report or stop the scheduling. In addition to that you would also see some general information about the report should you click this button.

Report history

This is the first section of the report that shows you the timeline off the report that are included in this view. This view is nothing but a comparison view that allows you to compare 2 reports created using the same inputs but on different timelines. In this timeline you can see the two dates when the reports were created while the difference in the timeline is displayed in the middle of the scale.

Topic Summary & What Changed?

Topic summary

Just like other insights, the card to appear consistently serves as the summary. This summary card showcases the primary keyword provided as input along with its associated category.

Observe in the screenshot that the category is listed as 'undetermined.' This suggests that the primary keyword could be too broad, leaving the system unsure whether it refers to a restaurant franchise or a property in Ireland. The quality of your portfolio is crucial at this point. Without a strong portfolio, you might occasionally encounter an 'undetermined' category designation.

What changed?

On the upper section, the card on the right side shows the changes made. This card summarizes the differences between the reports being compared. It outlines the favorable changes and highlights areas that still require enhancement. The observations listed in both columns are highly specific and might be based on several references noted and gathered over time.

Consumer Voice & Platforms

The next section of the report is a dual rank flow chart, positioned next to each other.

Consumer voice

The chart displays the impact of various contributors across all online mentions. On the left side, contributors are categorized into four groups: Conversers, Creators, Amplifiers, and Journalists. For additional details on each contributor category, consult the article about the mentions report.

At the bottom of the chart, you can observe the dates when these insights were originally generated and are now presented side-by-side for comparison. The trajectories in the rank flow chart indicate shifts in the influence of each contributor over different periods. For instance, in the screenshot provided, you can identify that the mention which was first recorded on August 2nd encountered a change when recreated with a focus; notably, journalist contribution slightly diminished. In contrast, the role of amplifiers experienced an increase in their contributions. The extent of change for each contributor is represented by the number of levels they move up or down.

Platforms

The correct flow chart for platforms can be interpreted similarly to consumer sentiment. However, this clear comparison distinguishes two different time periods across the platforms concerned with the topic's origin. The rank flow lines indicate where the platforms gained or lost mentions by contributors.

Consumer Sentiments

The final section of this report is dedicated to consumer sentiments, providing access to individual mentions which can be examined through two interactive visualizations.

On the left, there's a timeline you can adjust to either see all timelines or focus on a specific one. This will change the word cloud displayed. To the right, you can see comments from all timelines or just those related to a selected tag in the word cloud by left clicking it. Moreover, right clicking a tag in the word cloud allows you to remove it, reducing clutter and highlighting less prominent tags.

Please be aware that we are currently enhancing this report with additional charts, which will enable you to conduct comparisons between multiple reports derived from identical inputs over various timelines. Updates to this article will be made accordingly as these enhancements are implemented.
